The Carmi-White County Schools are conducting Child Find/Preschool Screenings for 3 to 5 year-old children not yet enrolled in public schools, and who will not be kindergarten eligible in the fall.  The screening checks every child’s progress in hearing, vision, speech, language, and coordination skills.  This will give parents a better idea of how their child is progressing at this very young age before he/she begins school.  The screening program is FREE.  Parents will receive immediate feedback on their child’s development.  Head Start personnel may also be present to explain their program and services.

On Friday, September 18, the Child Find/Preschool Screening will be held from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.  The screening procedure takes about 45 minutes.  Appointments must be made so children do not have a long wait period.  Parents need to call the Pre-K facility at 382-4631 to make an appointment or to get more information.

Remember:  The service is a FREE check of your child’s progress in the developmental areas, but appointments are needed.  If you live in the Carmi-White County School District, call 382-4631 today to make an appointment for your preschooler.
