The Jefferson Attendance Center offers many programs to ensure student success and create an environment conducive to learning. Through a proactive approach to student discipline called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), students are taught behavioral expectations and rewarded for demonstrating the positive behaviors.

In the classrooms, student instruction is supplemented through the use of technology such as interactive whiteboards, student response systems, document cameras and other technology. Students also receive individualized academic support daily in the school’s computer lab.

Academically, student progress is formally monitored throughout the year. Interim standardized assessments are given three times a year in order to show student growth and make instructional adjustments as needed. These tests include Discovery Education Assessments and AIMSWeb. Student growth is also monitored through other online programs that provide individualized interventions for students. These include Spelling City, Accelerated Reader, Math Facts in a Flash, Compass, Academy of Reading and the Academy of Math. Students can access some of these programs outside of the classroom by clicking on the “Links” tab on our website.

Interventions for students who struggle academically and/or behaviorally are provided through our Response to Intervention (RtI) program. Additionally, interventions for our gifted population are provided through our Talented and Gifted (TAG) program.

To ensure that students attain a well-rounded education, we partner with parents and the community to provide a Back to School Night, field trips, Open-House/Carnival, 5-K Reindeer Run and Parent-Community Training Nights. Our district-counselor provides weekly Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons and coordinates a volunteer reading program in which parents and community members volunteer their time to listen to students read. Additional character-building activities such as canned-food drives are also conducted each year.

At Jefferson, we take pride in our work, but are always looking towards improvement. Bi-annual parent/guardian surveys are conducted to attain feedback on our services. If you would like to complete a survey, please contact the school office.
