Dear CWC Families: We are so excited that the new school year begins tomorrow with a half-day dismissal! A fifty-minute early dismissal will continue the rest of this week to allow younger students to become acclimated to school and for staff to continue beginning of the year meetings and preparations. “Back-to-School Nights” will continue again this year in an effort to inform the parents/guardians of the programs that are available to students and grade level expectations. “Back-to-School Night” for Jefferson’s is August 15th, Washington’s is August 16th, and the Junior High is August 17th all from 6:00-7:30 pm. On Friday, August 19th, prior to the Fall Sports Festival, the High School will have its “Back-to-School Night”. As we begin the 2022 - 2023 school year, school districts are required to have a Return to Learn & Continuity of Services Plan. This plan may be found on the school district website at www.carmischools.org and is open for public comment. Carmi-White County CUSD #5 is excited to welcome students back for another great school year! #BulldogPride

Attention Parents/Guardians: Now that the road construction is coming to a end on Route 1/Main Street, we ask that all Jr. High students be dropped off on Main Street at the front entrance of the gym. Any High School students need to be dropped off in the main back parking lot of the Jr./Sr. High. Please pull up to the main back door for drop-off so that other vehicles may pass through. Thank you for your Cooperation! #BulldogPride

The Carmi-White Co. CUSD 5 Board of Education is conducting a search for a new superintendent. The selection of a new superintendent is probably the most important decision a board of education has to make; therefore, the Board has hired the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) to assist in this process. The Board of Education is seeking everyone’s input in the search process. The Board requests that all board members, all staff, all parents and community members complete an online survey provided by the IASB. The results will be tallied and used by the Board and Screening Team to develop a brochure to advertise the position. The survey for parents can be accessed at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HBMVBLP & on the district website. The survey for community members can be accessed at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HHDNMMW & on the district website. The survey deadline is: September 13, 2021 at 11:45 p.m. Thank you for taking time to complete the survey.

There will be road milling tomorrow morning (8/27) through down town. There will be no parking on the street. Road work will be near Washington School in the morning and probably again in the evening at the end of the school day. Next Tuesday (8/31) paving will begin unless plans change. Students should be extra careful to not cross the fresh paved Asphalt. We want to keep everyone safe! #BulldogPride
