Winter is just around the corner and every winter we have the possibility of cancelling school due to poor road conditions. Parents and students are already on our call lists, however, we recognize that grandparents, businesses, babysitters and others would like to also know when we will be closing school due to the weather.

Please click on the link below to fill out a Google Form if you would like to be notified of school cancellations! We ask that you please complete this form by Dec. 1st. Please provide your first and last name and your phone number. An email can also be sent as well, but it is not required.

Since it’s November, we would like to highlight its significance as Homeless Youth Awareness Month. This is an important time to raise awareness about the challenges faced by homeless youth in our community and to promote efforts toward solutions. Our McKinney-Vento Homeless Education program supports the educational needs of these vulnerable students. Students who qualify for McKinney-Vento support are those who lack a fixed, regular, or adequate nighttime residence.
On Wednesday, November 19, we invite everyone in the community to participate in our “Paint the Town Purple” initiative. This campaign aims to foster awareness and support for homeless youth. Last year, nearly 6900 students in Southern Illinois where identified as McKinney-Vento eligible, highlighting the urgent need for our collective action. We encourage everyone to wear purple on this day to show solidarity and raise awareness.
Your involvement would not only highlight the importance of this issue but also show our community’s commitment to supporting those in need. Together, we can spark conversations and inspire actions toward addressing youth homelessness.
Thank you for your support in making a difference in the lives of homeless youth in our community.
With appreciation,

If you need Christmas assistance for your student that is enrolled at CWCJHS, please complete the gold PAWS form that was included with your student's report card. This form is due to the office this Friday, October 31st. It is critical that we have the form completed on time so we know how many families will need Christmas assistance.!
